I Did It!

It’s been a year in the making, but I was finally able to hit the SEND button to email my manuscript to Timber Press.

What a journey this has been! Looking back over my shoulder, when my acquisitions editor, Stacee Gravelle Lawrence, called me to say she saw me speak at the Northwest Flower & Garden Show (thank you, Janet Endsley) she explained Timber Press was looking for someone who knew this subject and she wanted to know if I would be interested in writing a book.

What could I say? I said YES! Since then it has been a constant battle to be disciplined enough to write everyday (HA!) but I finally found my way. In the end, I think it will be a great book, filled with hundreds of tips, tools, and techniques for senior gardeners who want to continue gardening, despite those nagging pains that come with growing older.

Since I turned it in, I am sleeping soundly for the first time in months. Now if I could just lose the weight I gained while sitting in front of my computer for more than a year, it would be a perfect world.

Whew!

I want to thank so many people for their help, guidance and support throughout this amazing process, particularly Bren Taylor, Nancy Harvey, Heidi Hornberger, Patricia Randolph, and of course, last but not least, Tim King, who kept me alive with unconditional love, sumptuous meals and lots of wine. I could not have done it without you. Molto Grazie!
