Welcome.
I'm thrilled you're here.

This body of work: my book, seminars, blog and YouTube channel has been a dream in the making for 20 years.

I’ve always been passionate about gardening, and for over two decades I’ve explored various avenues and possibilities where I might share my love of gardening in a way that could be of value and service to others.

With the hope and intention that it would illuminate my path, I went back to school and became certified as a Master Gardener. However, it wasn’t until I suffered from chronic and severe back pain — and couldn’t work in my garden, that I found my true calling.

Even though I’d encountered quite a set-back, and had to come to terms with my new normal, and accept my physical limitations, I was still determined to find solutions and ways to adapt, so I could continue pursuing my love for working and tending my garden.

It was my determination that led me back to an article I’d saved years before about something called “adaptive gardening”.

It was then that I had an A-HA moment.

I began to see how every career move brought me to where I am today. Starting with my sales experience in the training industry and the National Speakers Association, then as an entrepreneur manufacturers rep in the home and garden market, it dawned on me I had all the skills I needed to do this work.

When I discovered adaptive gardening and realized I was not alone, I understood this was something I was so passionate about, I had found my path to serve others and opened the door to launching my monthly newsletter, and my blog and YouTube channel.

I began to see how every career move brought me to where I am today. When I discovered adaptive gardening and realized I was not alone, I understood this was something I was so passionate about, I had found my path to serve others and opened the door to launching my monthly newsletter, and my blog and YouTube channel.

That’s when I developed the You Can Garden for Life! seminar, an information-rich session about resilience, not giving up, and how an adaptive approach to gardening can remove barriers and create new opportunities for gardeners of varying abilities.

That seminar led to an invitation by the publishers at
Timber Press to write my first book:

The Lifelong Gardener: Garden With Ease and Joy At Any Age,
and opened the door to launching my monthly newsletter,
and now blog, and YouTube channel.

The physical challenges, let downs and disappointments I experienced reminded me that sometimes we have to work through some tough days to get to the best days in our lives.

I’m delighted to welcome you here. Please have a look around and come back and visit often.

The Resilient Gardener is here to help you find your way through setbacks. and to a place of ease and joy in your garden — and in your life.

“I just loved your reflections on resilience. Thank you for writing so beautifully about this.  I was particularly struck by what you said here: Being resilient will not make your problems go away — but it helps you handle setbacks when they strike, so you can see past them. You may still feel anger, grief, or pain, but you can keep functioning, which is key.”
